In 1980 the creator of Personal Alert was trying to find something to help a friend stay in her home after her husband had died. It turned out there were only a few companies across the country providing this type of service. After discovering it could cost hundreds of dollars to install and fifty to a hundred dollars per month for monitoring, this was too costly. So being an electronics engineer he designed a simple but quality system that he started installing for free with a monitoring cost of only $16 per month.
Within a few years Personal Alert had became one of America's best and most trusted medical alarm company. When we started waterproof buttons and voice modules were unheard of. As long as you didn't get the button wet the system worked great.
Things have come a long way, waterproof buttons, built-in intercoms, long life batteries and pendants that are not only small but weigh 1/2 ounce or less and can send signals twice as far.
